At The Berkeley School, our teachers work hard to develop program elements that support all students' learning experiences – in and out of classrooms.
With this in mind, we asked our teachers how our community could support their efforts most effectively. Their response was simple: increase our access to resources and experiences that will augment the program elements we've already put in place and help us grow the diversity within our community.
With CMI, you can direct your support to your area of interest: Resources | Technology | Travel | Equity & Inclusion
Every spring at TBS, the Count Me In program raises funds to benefit specific aspects of our ECC and UAC programs for the upcoming school year. Over the past two years, our CMI campaigns bolstered science and technology education at TBS, and funded "Seen & Celebrated," programming which offers TBS students, families, and staff opportunities to learn about identity development and to celebrate the diversity of our multicultural community. Thank you Count Me In contributors!
This year, our goal is to support our teachers' requests for increased access to resources and experiences. Please join us and support our teachers' requests!
Resources Fund - Enhance every classroom library collection on both the Early Childhood and University Avenue Campuses. Stock the new UAC student reading room with new, beautifully illustrated books that keep kids excited about reading. Bring new resources to the ECC outdoor learning environment and cultivate a new fairy garden, add an outdoor kitchen for imaginative play, and put new musical instruments into the hands of our young musicians.
Technology Fund - Help us bring updated devices to our teachers! New iPad stations in K-2 would support student literacy groups, math centers, and science study by connecting to the Bridges and FOSS (Full Option Science Systems) math/science programs. An expanded device catalog supports upper elementary and the middle school by adding flexibility to curriculum. A new Robotics exploratory in Middle School acts as an incubator for design thinking where students conceive of and build 3D objects that move.
Travel Fund - Open opportunities for new and enhanced student experiences by funding new trips at each grade level, expanding existing ones, and establishing a travel fund to get our students where their learning takes them. This fund would get our students out and about by coach or public transportation. We would reduce the frequency of family drivers and reallocate teacher and staff time from driver logistics.
Equity & Inclusion Fund - Your gift directed to tuition assistance strengthens our commitment to The Berkeley School's diverse and inclusive community. We are likewise committed to nurturing our teachers; help us continue their professional development specifically in health, math & science, interdisciplinary learning, and cultural responsiveness - along with specific training for a thriving neurodiverse learning environment to help all students achieve success in a rigorous program.
